Kingswood is on the East side of Bristol.
U,K, about 5 miles from the centre of the city. Actually it is in South
Gloucestershire. It's on the A420 road to Chippenham, and eventually
London. (160K away)
Since the beginning of January 2007
all meetings are held at:-
Longwell Green Community Centre,
Shellards Road,
Longwell Green,
Nr. Bristol.
The club is one of the oldest Probus
clubs in the Bristol area.
It was founded on the 8th. February 1973, and led the
way to the formation of many other Probus Clubs on this side of Bristol.
We have some 44 active members, together with their
ladies who attend some meetings, and we also have 20
or so "Friends
of Probus", who are the widows of former members, who we invite to
attend many activities, outings, and holidays.
The Club is not a Registered Charity, and does
not have a favourite cause, but rather it encourages members to donate
generously to the Charities of their choice.
Whilst each club is completely autonomous, ( there is
no central organisation, National, Regional, or Local), there is a co-operative,
loose liaison
between the Probus clubs of this area.
